		This grabrail extension is for a person who has MS and spends many hours at home on their own. A new mattress presented them with considerable challenge when it came to getting out of bed. The design allows the rail to be locked in a horizontal position when needed while it can be lowered to a vertical position out of the way at other times. They are now able to get out of bed much faster which adds hours to their day and has significantly enhanced their independence.
		For some, just getting out of their car safely can be a challenge, particularly when you’re not sure of your legs. This person has two prothetic legs which had been known to give way on him when getting out of his car. What he needed was a firm hand hold. It needed to be away from the car so he could grasp it and stand up to it. It also needed to be folded away when not in use. TADACT saw right away that the driver’s door met all of the criteria, but how to keep the door open? The solution was a neatly shaped piece of wood which spreads the load over the reinforced areas of the door and frame and which clips over the hinges to keep it in place. A handle at the mid point makes the block easy to manipulate.
