When arthritis deprives you of the ability to manipulated the bathroom door lock, what do you do?  The ultimate solution turned out to be elegantly  simple.  Being a sliding door, the main constraint was not being able to extend the recessed  finger plate of the locking mechanism.  Drilling the finger plate and fitting a key ring which lies flat when not in use, and when the door is recessed is an all too obvious solution – once you’ve seen it done!
TADACT designed and made the locking arrangement shown opposite.  The pin of the door section of the lock slides into the body of the lock attached to the fridge.  As the pin passes into the lock body it lifts a latch plate which drops into a slot in the pin when the door is fully closed.  The lock is released by inserting a key which raises the latch.  TADACT has made a number of units of this type, such is the success of the lock.
