TADACT continually seeks the help of project volunteers skilled in a wide range of technical areas from wood and metal trades to photography and electronics. We will welcome your help if you have the skills necessary to design and/or make devices to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities of all ages in the ACT and region.
TADACT project volunteers bring to the organisation a very wide range of skill areas and skill competencies. Levels of competency range from amateur to professional. This information is only important in the context of identifying appropriate volunteers for projects. All levels of competency are required.
The extent to which a volunteer participates in the design process is up to the volunteer. The participation can range from ‘none’ to ‘all’. In the case of ‘none’, a design is prepared and the volunteer then produces the aid or device. For ‘some’ participation, design assistance as requested will be provided. And for ‘all’, the volunteer has carriage of the design with the Projects Coordinator ’s involvement being focused on aspects of safety, functionality, quality and aesthetics. Ultimately, the goal is a product which is as simple as practicable, functional, safe, of high quality, and visually pleasing.
When you become a project volunteer you join a group of skilled, dedicated folk who are willing to assist you to achieve our aims in helping people. If you are stuck for a design or a way to construct something, or you need some specialist work undertaken, there are volunteers out there with the talents to share with you. If you know one who could help, call them directly, or give our Projects Coordinator a call and he can point you to someone who could help.
Many of our projects are not completely new, and something similar may have been made previously. We can search through our database for information on similar projects and give you pictures of previous work. TADACT has a small project area for use by those project volunteers for the assembly of project items and small jobs.
